Our new Uploader (BETA)
One of our ace developers created a new desktop client — for the Mac only, as a start — that makes uploading tracks a snap. The scoop:
- Download & install the client app in seconds
- If you opt to have the Uploader launch at log-in (and I’d suggest you do, it’s really lightweight), it simply “lives” in your top menu bar (like Audioscrobbler), ready whenever you need it
- You can then drag a music file (MP3 or AAC) or an entire *playlist* — from iTunes or your desktop — to this ‘8’ icon in your menu bar to commence uploads
- If the metadata for a set of your MP3s is shoddy, you can opt to have the Uploader identify your tracks (courtesy of MusicIP) and correct the track and artist names (see Preferences panel)
Please note the Uploader is still in beta, and so we’d like to get a few early-adopting, risk-taking 8tracks fans involved to test things out.
One bug we’ve noted to date: the tracks you upload will appear in the Network tab rather than in Your Tracks when you go to create a mix. We’ll get this fixed in due course.
If you’re still game, email me at dp@8tracks.com and I’ll send you the file. Thanks all!
